Air and East
The energy of beginning.
Remember, the more you give your attention to Air & the energies of the East, the more they will show up for you.
Week 1 (7/28)- Overview of the element and the direction.
Home Play: Write a blessing or poem to the energy of Air - or find one that. Get a compass or use the one on your phone to orient to the East throughout the day.
Week 2 (8/4) - set a solid foundation by building pathways to ease, peace, restfulness. Inner Sanctuary!! Practice it little and often. Many people feel an association between the Inner Sanctuary and the energy of the heart (which in the Chakra system is the element of AIR).
Home Play: this week diving into things that feel like personal resources for ease and wellbeing - moments to enliven the felt sense of sanctuary in your body, mind and spirit. Also review the binder information re Silent Retreat (in the fire section).
Week 3 (8/11) - Meet at Hoover Sailing Club, 4250 Smothers Rd, Westerville, OH 43082. Bring something to sit in the grass on, your binder and your notes from last week (your partner’s description of their Inner Sanctuary).
Home Play: create a 10 minute meditation for your partner using their Inner Sanctuary language and memories. Please have this to them by next Tuesday. If you’re not going to be able to do this - please lmk by Saturday and I will make them one. (Use the guidelines on page 9 of the AIR section as your template, just as we did in class last week.)

We discussed portals/gateways of entering meditative states through the senses - what’s it like to listen to the wind OR to be the wind. Practiced a modified Tonglen (script can be found on page 12 of air section).
Week 4 (8/18) - Aerial hammocks - the felt sense of floating! Retreat review (email each other to see if you can borrow things you might not have!) Journey to meet with Hummingbird. This journey was into Spring and the energies of the East to see what Hummingbird had to offer. Maybe she gave you something for the altar in your heart. Something that will nourish and sustain you. I also offered a brief dvadashanta practice (script is in the AIR section).
Home Play: Create an altar in offering/recognition of the element of Air. Be as literal or figurative as you want. Feel into your intention for retreat.
