Noticing 3 types of discursive thought and labeling the first two “thinking” (Buddhist practice: Vippasana). Bring attention back to the object of mediation with curiosity, patients, kindness and humor!
Home Play:
Give yourself a “lovie” name. Baby cakes, cutie boots, butternut squash princess sparkle, sweetie, darling, dear one, little honey, etc.
Using sensation as the object of your meditation. Embody your life! Choose one or do both DAILY
Choose a simple daily ritual (brushing your teeth, making coffee, washing dishes) and attune to the sensorial experience of that activity. When the mind wanders, draw it back KINDLY to sensation. (I think Kalee referenced this kindness as moving back to the meditation without any emotional weight).
As you are engaged in your life, let attention fill your physical body and feel whatever it is you’re doing (don’t stop what you’re doing to feel, continue with your task, but embody it). If you’re hurrying around, FEEL the floor under your feet as you rush, senses the air on your skin, feel your heartbeat quicken, etc. As you’re watching TV, feel the couch, sense the pillows, feel the texture of any blankets around you, etc. Notice how this brings you directly into the present moment.
11/17.
